Exchange-Traded funds (ETFs) have received a great deal of market and media attention over the last couple of years, and rightly so in our opinion. In fact, we believe that ETFs are one of the more important financial market innovations to come along in decades. The ETF market has seen especially rapid growth over the last few years both in terms of assets and choices. This growth is not likely to abate anytime soon, as their wide range of applications and inherent advantages make ETFs appealing to both individual and professional investors.
Sage has utilized ETFs in client portfolios for several years, recognizing that the combination of low expenses, diversification, tax-efficiency and trading flexibility make these instruments a compelling option for both our individual and institutional clients. As the ETF market has evolved so has our level of coverage and involvement in it. With a four-year track record in active ETF management, we have become a close follower of the ETF market, conducting many studies regarding their application, as well as developing our own selection methodologies and valuation techniques.
