Despite all of the fanfare over the past six months, fixed-income investors are starting to view the media frenzy surrounding the Asian crisis with the same disdain that the public regards the Starr investigation of Clinton. While everyone agrees that something is remiss, the magnitude of the problem just isn’t living up to the bombast that is being propagated by the messengers. There very well may be a bombshell waiting in the wings, but the explosion thus far has been more a profusion of incendiary warnings than of actual events.
