Weekly Market Commentary 05/06/2016

Just as trees don’t grow to the sky, the economy cannot crank out more than 200,000 jobs a month forever. At some point, a maturing expansion inevitably leads to a slower hiring trend for a variety of reasons. Most important, as the labor force moves closer to full employment, the pool of available workers that are willing and able to meet company staffing needs shrinks. With the current upturn at nearly seven years old already longer than the average postwar expansion, there is little question that we are in the mature stage of the cycle.
