  • Taft-Hartley Business Development Professional
  • Reports to: Managing Director, Consultant Relations & Client Services

    Job purpose: This focus of this role is to proactively represent the Sage investment strategies & solutions to Taft-Hartley Retirement Plans. This will involve the day-to-day management of the firm’s national business development efforts. The role will require both actively working with financial advisors across the wire house, regional, and independent broker dealer channels and direct client development. Success in this role will be determined by the ability to grow the firm’s Taft-Hartley relationships through well thought out activities, competence of the Sage investment solutions, and the coordination of key Sage resources. This independent, results-oriented, individual must demonstrate a strong knowledge of Taft-Hartley clients and related associations, a sound working knowledge of financial products, and effective presentation skills.

    Position Expectations:
    • 5+ years of demonstrated experience with an investment management firm proactively developing business relationships within the Taft-Hartley client community
    • Apply a consultative marketing approach across multiple financial advisory channels, using knowledge of the firm’s investment disciplines and process to develop and maximize Client, Advisor and Consultant relationships
    • Must have strong group presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively, in verbal and written form, the firm's value proposition, professional capabilities, and product/service strengths
    • Exhibit excellent time management skills to identify prospective clients, prepare presentations, and follow up on client development activity
    • Show a demonstrated knowledge of the capital markets and investment strategies, particularly in regard to fixed income, asset/liability management and tactical asset allocation applications
    • Must be a self starter and have the ability to prioritize and manage client/consultant business development opportunities

    Preferred Education and Experience:
    • MBA in marketing, economics or finance.
    • CFA Designation, not required but preferred
    • Series 65 completion required within 90 days of hire date
    • 5 years prior marketing/sales experience working with Clients, Consultants & Financial Advisors
    • Comprehensive understanding of the fixed income and ETF markets as well as on asset/liability management fundamentals
    • Proficiency with CRM and related management tools

This will involve the day-to-day management of the firm’s client marketing and business development efforts. The role will require actively working with direct client development. Success in this role will be determined by the ability to grow the firm’s Insurance industry relationships through well thought out activities, competence of the Sage investment solutions, and the coordination of key Sage analytical resources. This independent, results-oriented, individual must demonstrate a strong knowledge of the Insurance industry, market trends and regulation. A sound working knowledge of the financial products and services, preferred by Insurance entities, and effective presentation skills are key requirements.
